5th Call for STSM Applications

The 5th STSM Call of CYPHER CA22151 accepts applications to be submitted from November 1st 2025 to November 30th 2025 for the period from November 16th, 2025, to February 28th, 2026. 

General Instructions for all participants:

To apply for this call, follow the steps below: 

• Obtain the agreement of the host institution. 
• The applicant should start an STSM application by logging into e-COST: https://e-services.cost.eu/.
• Go to COST Actions, on the left panel. 
• Go to Grant Applications, again, on the left panel.
• Click on the “+ Apply for grant” button located on the bottom right.
• Select Short-Term Scientific Mission grant.
• Select the COST Action CA22151
• Fill in the required information
• Save the information

For the next steps, you will need to upload the following documents:

• STSM Grant Application Template (Grant Application to be downloaded from the platform)
• Host Institution Agreement (Confirmation by host)
• Home Institution Support Letter (Other) 
• Your CV (max 2 pages) (Other)

Finally, click on the “Submit the application” button.

Application Timeline

🎤 Open of call: November 1st, 2025.

🛑 Deadline for application: November 30th, 2025.

🗓️ The STSM must take place between November 16th 2025 and February 28th 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

The CYPHER Evaluation Committee will evaluate all applications in the light of the objectives of the Action Grant Period. 

The eligibility criteria are:

• Be a PhD Candidate, a researcher or an innovator affiliated with a legal entity
• Belong to, at least, one of the Action’s Working Groups
• Researchers cannot apply for an STSM grant in the country where they are currently working
• The STSM must take place in a COST Member Country

STSM funding will be awarded according to the COST key principles of:

• Excellence
• Inclusivity
• Balance (gender and nationality)

The evaluation will be carried out by the Grant Awarding Coordinator with an evaluation committee and the decision will be communicated to the applicant by early December 2025. 

The amount of the grant awarded will never exceed the amount requested by the applicant.
